RPL is a procedure used to identify, evaluate, and clarify a person's knowledge, skills, and competencies against predetermined standards for modular or full qualifications, regardless of how, when, or where the learning occurred. How does it work?In a nutshell, the RPLA process involves the following steps: an informal apprentice who meets the criteria applies for RPLA by filling out a skills competency form in their area of expertise. The candidate applies, and the RPLA facilitator advises them on the RPL processes, eligibility, skills needed for assessment, and portfolio development as part of the evidence. The candidates prepare for the evaluation. For the chosen qualification, candidates are evaluated in comparison to set standards.
Who does the RPL programme target?RPL focuses on workers employed in the unorganised sector for at least five years. It targets workers who have acquired occupational skills through nonformal training or life or work experience but have never been recognised and certified.
